Tendency to lower prices for the end user
From 2014 to 2015, prices for consumers have dropped: these are 40.7% lower in international long distance, 16.4% in mobile phones and 4.5% in land lines. Charges for national long distance calls were also eliminated. 

This reduction in prices translated, for example, in moving from the 79th place to the 69th place in the Network Readiness Index included in the Global Information Technology Report 2015 of the World Economic Forum (WEF)

Growth in the penetration levels of mobile broadband From December 2012 to December 2014, mobile broadband penetration almost doubled to reach 44.3 subscribers per each 100 inhabitants.

Higher sector dynamism During 2013, 2014 and 2015, the annual growth rate of the GDP derived from the telecommunication sector was more than double than the growth rate of the overall economy.

Greater appeal for investment Insofar as the new regulation levels the playfield and allows up to 100% of direct foreign investment, since 2014 investment in telecommunications has increased. For example:

• AT&T made initial investments of US$4,375 million in the purchase of Iusacell and Nextel.

• Eutelsat Communications acquired Satmex for US$831 million.

• Virgin Mobile began operations in Mexico as a virtual mobile operator with an investment of US$45 million.

Regulation that promotes investment The regulatory framework of telecommunications in Mexico is now significantly less restrictive, being below the average of the countries member of the OECD.
